First Pointe Fitting

Service Description

This 45 minute appointment is for dancers recently promoted to pointe by their teachers. Congratulations! During your appointment we will learn about what pointe shoes are made out of, how to care for them, and what to expect them to feel like to get a proper fit. We will then try on lots of shoes so the dancer understands what right and wrong feels like on pointe. Check out our Pointe Shoe FAQ page for a head start. You don't need to wear a leotard and tights, but please choose clothing that allows the fitter to see your ankles and leg alignment. We have try on tights available for you to borrow. Before your fitting, ensure that your toenails are trimmed. After your fitting most teachers want to see the shoe to approve of the fit for first pairs. Our fitters know how the dancer stands but not how they dance so it is important for the teacher to get the final say if they ask for it. Please ask your teacher if they have any preferences prior to the fitting on brands to avoid, if they want anything specific for the dancer, or if they have a preference for ribbons, elastics, and padding. If they don't have specifics we will choose what is best for the dancers feet.
